Xiaomi's HyperOS is the successor to its popular MIUI and is the dafult OS for all of its smartphone models including the Redmi and Poco line up. HyperOS brings improved UI, lockscreen animations and AI features in its latest HyperOS 2 update.

2. Uninstall all unwanted apps that comes preinstalled
As you know all budget smartphones comes with preinstalled bloatware which not only takes up space but also reduces your battery and produces unwanted notifications. So you can go to settings->apps and uninstall most of the unwanted applications that comes preinstalled.
3. Change your launcher to Nova Launcher
While this is a personal preference I will suggest anyone having heating issues to replace the default launcher and replace it with Nova launcher.The Nova Launcher is fast and has more features like icon support and customisations. But just keep in mind that this will break gestures as Xiaomi doesn't allow third party launchers to use gesture navigation.

4. Change DNS to a custom DNS provider like Google DNS

5. Customise your Quick settings
Opening your quick settings bar you can use the edit button to add useful shortcuts like to settings, remote and more. Also you can remove the Mi Home option by following the steps in below article,

6. Prevent apps running in the background
Some installed applications will run in the background slowing down your phone and reducing battery. You can go to settings to avoid that. Follow the below article to do that which provides detailed steps to keep your smartphone in optimal performance.

7. Schedule Battery saver mode
Now as you know the HyperOS has battery draining issues and one way to avoid that is turning on your battery saver mode. While always turning on battery saver mode will impact your user experience HyperOS allows you to schedule Battery saver mode when you are not actively using your smartphone.
You have to go to settings and search for battery saver where you have the option to set the schedule for turning on the Battery saver.
8. Use Digital Wellbeing to unwind and have peaceful sleep
Android provides you the digital wellbeing app to help smartphone users limit their usage and also control the notification during nightmode. You can go to settings to find the Wellbeing application which allows you to set per application time limit. There is also a bedtime mode which we like which can disable all notifications except important calls.

10. Gesture and fingerprint shortcuts
HyperOS provides couple of shortcuts like using power button to turn on Camera or shortcut to QRcode scanner from fingerprint. You can access this by going to settings and searching for gesture shortcuts. For fingerprint shortcut you just need to press and hold the fingerprint unlock icon.
11. Use Google Messages for RCS support
Rich Communication Services(RCS) is a standard proposed by Google and adopted in Both Android and iOS which allows messages to be sent through data removing the restrictions of SMS and separate payments of MMS. RCS messages supports larger messages and multimedia like modern Messenger applications. The app will be already installed just select the Messages app and set it as default.
12. Schedule Dark Mode for better battery savings
If your display is AMOLED or OLED you can schedule to turn on dark mode at night or the full day to have a lot of battery savings. You can go to Display in settings and select the Dark Mode options.
13.Disable the wallpaper carousel
If you are finding unnecessary ads on your lock screen you can search for Glance in settings to disable it.
14. Optimise the charging
If you have a habit of charging your phone overnight enable the Smart charging option under battery protection in Battery settings. This will stop your battery from overcharging and adjust the charging speed such that the charging will only complete by the time you wake up.
15. Use super folders for your Homescreen
If you are using the default launcher a nice feature is super folders which allows you to group multiple applications and all of them can be accessed in easily. You can create them by moving one icon over the other to fist create a folder and next hold and press the folder which will pop up a new window where you can select larger folder sizes.
