HyperOS how to prevent apps autostarting or running in the background


Xiaomi's HyperOS is an evolution of its MIUI skin which boasts of new animations, smoother UI, AI features and more. 


 One of the issues facing HyperOS is less than optimal battery life and one of the reason is app running in the background. If you are facing the same issue below will give steps to prevent the same,

Disable Background autostart

 Step 1: Go to apps in the settings
Step 2: Select manage apps


 Step 3: Select background auto start option

 Step 4: Unselect the apps you don't want to auto start


Restrict Background Activity

Step 1: Follow the steps 1 and 2 of the previous method
 
Step 2: Select the app you want to prevent from running in the background and choose battery saver


Step 3: Choose the Restrict background activity option

Extra:Reduce Backrgound Process Limit

This method you can use if the above methods fails to increase battery or prevent apps from running in the background. HyperOS is not as agressive in killing background apps.

Step 1: For this option first you need to enable developer options. You can read the steps here  HyperOS how to enable developer options
 
Step 2: After enabling developer options go to settings and choose additional settings

Step 3: Select developer options

Step 4: Scroll down to apps and select background process limit which you can set to 3 or less

Note: This is an aggressive method which will kill background apps. Also this method needs to be redone every time you restart your phone.
