HyperOS vs MIUI what are the Changes?

Xiaomi has released HyperOS to almost all supported devices bringing a whole lot of changes compared to the previous MIUI series. The update can be thought of as building a strong foundation for Xiaomi next generation of software innovation which not only includes smartphones but other smart devices and IoT too.

   As you can see the the Quick settings has got a make over with rearrangement of icons and there is a single scroll able quick settings page compared to MIUI new icons are added in a new page which you can access by sliding to right.

 Lockscreen

    One of the major visual changes is the new Lockscreen that was introduced with HyperOS that provides a lot of customisation features. There are different Lockscreen styles and you can customise by applying filters too.

Dynamic Island

    Xiaomi has brought dynamic island like animations to HyperOS which is very limited with no customisation options.

There are also smaller changes like a new font called MiSans which supports multiple languages and rearrangement of options in settings app.

AI features

    With all major phone manufacturers pushing AI, Xiaomi is also pushing out a lot of AI features. The features announced include,

Under the hood Changes

HyperOS majorly brings under the hood improvements which builds a base for Xiaomi's vision of a efficient multiplatform operating system.

Reduced Phone Storage use and lightweight filesystem

HyperOS compared to MIUI reduces storage usage of the operatin system by more than 25%.  The filesystem is optimised to reduce slowdowns as more files gets added during the life of a device.

Support for Complex Animations

    The graphics part of the operating system has been updated to support better animations as can be seen by the Lockscreen styles and superwallpapers.

Crossdevice support

You can now control multiple HyperOS devices from one device like controlling HyperOS based tablet from your smartphone.

Hardware level Security

    Xiaomi has introduced hardware level security to store your private information although not much can be found about this in device settings. 

Future plans

    With HyperOS 2.0 around the corner Xiaomi is planning to introduce new changes to the UI, probably new AI features and better performance. Battery life which many have complained probably will get improved too.
