16 tips to increase HyperOS battery life

So your Xioami/Redmi/Poco smartphone has received the brand new HyperOS update but the battery life is not the same as MIUI? This article will give you tips to change that.

Tips to increase Hyper OS battery life

1. Uninstall bloatware apps: Xiaomi smartphones have a lot of unwanted applications which runs in the background and uses battery continuously. With HyperOS you can uninstall most of them by going to the individual application settings.

2. Turn off GPS: If enabled GPS will continuously use battery especially if you are traveling so its better to disable it and use it only when you require it.

3. Schedule battery saver to turn on when you sleep: A feature not available for other smartphones, HyperOS makes it easy to automatically turn on battery mode when you are sleeping. To enable this go to settings and search for battery saver. In this you will find the option to schedule battery saver while you sleep. This will ensure Android doesn't run any heavy tasks like updating in the background and your battery drain will be minimal.

4. Stop apps from running in the background: Many of the apps you have installed may be running in the background long after you close it. A solution for this is to block apps from running in the background. To do this go to the particular application settings and  select battery saver otpion and choose the restrict background activity option. Most of the applications can be safely put under this option other than your communication and music apps. This has given me good results with a faster phone and a better battery.

5. Disable autostart: Continuing with the previous tip, some applications will automatically start without you using it in the background. You can stop this by going to settings and search for autostart. This option will allow you to stop such applications.

6. Update your OS version and system apps: Xiaomi will fix battery issues through updates so keeping your phone up to date is a good idea. The default HyperOS apps can also be updated by going to settings and system apps updater.

7. Turn off display automatically: Set the auto turn off screen time to 15 or 30 seconds which reduces screen on time and increase battery. This option you can change by going to settings and searching for lockscreen settings.

8. Disable background data: Some of your apps may use data in the background further reducing the battery. To stop this go to the application settings, Data usage and disable background data option.

9. Disable WiFi Scanning: Android continuously scans for WiFi in the background even if the WiFi is disabled which can cause battery drain. To disable this search for WiFi Scanning in the settings and disable it.

10. Enable Dark Mode: If you are using a AMOLED based screen enabling dark mode will give you more battery life as AMOLED can turn of more pixels if the colours are more black thereby saving more battery. You can go to settings, display and brightness option and enable dark mode.

11. Control your app sync settings: Applications will sync data periodically and you can disable unwanted applications or customise what data each application should sync. To modify this go to settings, search for sync in settings and customise for each application.

12. Switch to 4G on secondary SIM: If you are using two SIMs select 4G on the sim you will not be using for data. This can save your battery as 5G requires more battery and for voice calls 4G will be enough.
