NFC(Near Field Communication) allows you to store your card, Credit or debit card using a compatible wallet like Google Pay/Wallet or your banking mobile application. This allows you to pay for purchases without using physical card instead using virtual card stored in your phone.
The NFC will work with all Point of Sale machines with NFC support, You can identify using NFC logo which looks like a inverted WiFi symbol and usually present in almost all in the market. The NFC technology is designed in such a way that it is actually faster than credit card transactions and doesn't require internet also.
Let us see the steps for using NFC payments with Google Pay as an example,
Step 1: Long press the NFC shortcut from the settings menu,
or go to connectivity options in settings,
and select NFC,
Step 2: Select your default wallet app by pressing payment default option. Here I have chosen Google Pay as default, you can choose the app of your choice, Step 3: Next step is to add a card in your wallet of choice, I will be using the example for Google Pay in India. Open the app and press your profile photo, from there press the Pay with credit or Debit cards option,
Step 4: Press Add credit or debit cards option, if you have already added you can skip the step 4 to 7,
Step 5: Press Add card in the next page,
Step 6: Bring the card in front of your camera so that it will be visible insider the rectangle or press enter details manually,
Step 7: Verify the card number details are correct and then click next, the next page depends on your bank but usually it will ask you for some verification and OTP. Once it has been verified a virtual card will be generated for your physical card stored in your mobile.
Step 8: Your card will be visible in payment methods and you cans select the card of your choice and if more than one card is there it will ask to make any one default.
Congratulations, now you can use tap and pay in your new phone just remember to turn on NFC and unlock the phone.
